We have the privilege to offer you this absolutely gorgeous and extremely rare set of 3 Qianlong cup stands or plates in Imperial enamel colors of ocre, green and a rich turquoise blue in the ground supporting enamel sgrafitto decorations. Circa 1736 – 1795 and they measure 4 1/2″ in diameter and 3/4″ high. These beautiful stands/plates are surrounded by a 1/4 hand painted gold gilt cords on a pigeon blood ground. The interior is a gorgeous incised sgrafitto enamel decoration with four floral hand painted decorations and then the center has the hand painted Shou character roundel in red. The back sides are showing the Imperial bat designs and are inscribed with an under glaze Qianlong 6 character seal mark and they are of the period. The 6 character seals are all done by hand. We feel these cup stands/plates are in exceptional condition for the period, wear commensurate with age and use, so please look at photos. The green cup stand/plate has very minor rubbing and a very minor chip along the outside edge (less than an 1/8) of the center rim, which could easily be fixed. The upper rim in this area is flat and exceptional. This would be a great opportunity to own a great find. We will break it down for you upon end of sale in the invoice. Check out our other quality auctions. Well worth a look! In regard to furniture and accessories, we sell antique furniture and accessories. As most people know, these pieces become more beautiful with age because of movements and distress in the woods, some having restoration. Spindle turnings will not be uniform and swell unevenly with age. Wood tends to get stress fractures on support systems and where wide board construction is used. Eighty-five percent of 18th Century veneers have had some restoration during their life. Pine secondary woods might fracture, making overlays and veneers have the same fracture lines. Old finishes might alligator, fade, fish-eye or darken depending on where the pieces were placed. All of these are desired by a true collector and gives it personality. Do not expect these early pieces to be like new. These pieces age gracefully just as we do, giving them unique personality. We do our best to describe and photograph all items thoroughly, but handle a quantity of pieces every day and might miss something. We know if they tick, run, move and are in tune with the quality of sound, but offer no guarantees on these items. You are welcome to personally view or pick your item up at our showroom, which contains Early American to Continental furniture, fine paintings and prints, fine porcelains and glass, plus almost every category pertaining to our past.
