Antique QIANLONG (1735-96) Mark Chinese Garniture Set of 3 Bulb Pot Planters
Antique QIANLONG (1735-96) Mark Chinese Garniture Set of 3 Bulb Pot Planters. For your consideration is an exquisite garniture of three traditional Chinese Bulb Pots. Bulb bowls or pots were traditionally used to plant flower bulbs, particularly Narcissus around the time of the Lunar New Year to celebrate the coming of spring. The bulbs would be planted in a mixture of gravel and fresh water, and allowed to bloom. Made of fine white porcelain, with Turquoise Celadon glaze inside and on the bottoms and Famille rose ornamentation on the sides – Iron Red and Black, with Gold trim and accenting, displaying Shou (Longevity) Medallion rosettes on the sides. Matching pattern, the garniture consists of a pair of lower bowls (planters) and a larger bowl (jardiniere). All three pieces are signed on the undersides with red Block Character marks – Qianlong Emperor, Qing Dynasty, but made at a slightly later period. Antique, early/mid 19th century. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE PAGE FOR MORE PHOTOS! The single bowl: 7″ x 7″ x 2.8 deep. The pair (each): 7.7″ x 5.7″ x 2.6 deep. Altogether, the set weighs about 3 lbs. Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. One of the bowls (of the pair) has a surface hairline visible on the inside only, and a minor flake on the rim. All three may use cleaning (particularly the single bowl).
